It's amazing that it takes horrific life events to make us wake up & realize the small things are the important things.
We've had many life events in our 9 years marraige that have made us realize this, over and over again. Two of the biggest events I can think of on this early morning are our wreck in 2009 and the birth and death of Ian & Owen in June.
I am feeling this way this morning, and thinking about the small things, because there is currently something WAY bigger going on around me than my sitting here and mourning my sons. Not that the mourning of Ian & Owen isn't extremely important to me, but at this moment, a friend of mine tops the ranks of my attention. I will not get into any details to protect this family, but they are experiencing a life event that will eventually (and I use that word loosely) make them a stronger, healthier family. They are consuming the minds and hearts of a lot of people right now-which is a really good thing. They are a very special group of people that help me to come out of my dark world for a little while and be able to help someone else-
On another note-this weekend has been CRAZY! We started early on Saturday morning with a FANTASTIC soccer game. They don't keep score in this age group(yea right) but Isaacs team won 4-3 (although it wasn't a pretty start to the game, they were down 3-0 for most of the game)
After the game, we loaded up the van with the boys & a few of their friends and headed to eat lunch and go bowling. Let me tell you-Cris and I laughed SO MANY TIMES about how broke we would be if the twins would have lived & grown up in this house. We had a total of 4 boys for most of the day yesterday-and those kids can EAT! For goodness sakes, we couldn't keep enough food in any of them! But after bowling, food, more food, flash light tag, lots of Wii wrestling, movies, more food, cookies & more food-you'd think they would sleep good! I guess I am just an old lady now-because I was exhausted @ midnight and went on to bed-they were still up LONG into the wee hours of the morning & then were up @ 7 for the day! They are all a little grumpy so far today-but gee, I can't imagine why! hahahah
The distraction has been good therapy this weekend. Despite the constant bickering between all of the boys in this house this weekend, the bottomless pit eating, and the "boy behavior"-we have not had a more fun weekend in MANY MANY months.
